Admissions for Data Science Degrees
Admission rules belong to each program, not to the university as a whole. This page explains what programs typically publish and links to the filters and guides that help you compare. Counts come from the 102 master's programs and the bachelor's programs verified in our directory.
Master's programs
- A bachelor's degree, often with a minimum GPA, and coursework in calculus, linear algebra, statistics and programming. Some programs offer bridge or foundation courses.
- GRE policies are shown exactly as published: required, optional, recommended, not required or waived. A program that does not mention the GRE is shown as not verified — never as “no GRE”.
- Statements of purpose, recommendations and a résumé are common; English-language tests apply to many international applicants.
- Deadlines are listed by intake (for example Fall 2027), with domestic and international deadlines separated when the university separates them.

Bachelor's programs
Undergraduates usually apply to the university, then enter the major — directly as first-year students, through an internal application, or as transfer students. We record only routes the university publishes for the program: 20 bachelor's programs publish a first-year route and 14 a transfer route. Degree-completion programs, which require prior credits, are never presented as first-year options.
PhD programs
Doctoral admissions usually weigh research fit and recommendations heavily, and funding decisions are often tied to admission. A funding guarantee is shown only when the program states one.
Prerequisites
Mathematics and programming expectations differ widely. Read the prerequisite wording on each program page and plan coursework before you apply.
We do not publish acceptance rates or estimate admission chances. Confirm every requirement on the university's official admissions page before applying.
